Social rides – For ALL
Getting out into the great outdoors on a bike is crucial to triathlon training, with these foundational miles setting you up for success on race day that ALWAYS including a cake break!
CTC organise regular social rides on Sundays between 08:00 – 11:00 (times may vary) and usually start at Cathedral in Chichester (unless stated otherwise).
Our social rides are designed for all abilities from those just starting out through to hardened race day endurance riders that need the hard and fast miles. They are a fantastic way to meet new people while improving technique and speed whatever the distance. Learn new routes, cycle in a peloton, and cover more miles in the company of one of our BTF (British Triathlon Federation) accredited coaching team or activator.
Routes vary from speedy flats to testing South Downs hill climbs. Whilst the focus is on training, these rides are welcoming and social – and usually involve a mid-way or end of ride coffee shop stop to recharge the batteries.
Coaches evaluate the groups and adapt to ensure each rider gets a good workout whatever your training goals.
All communications regarding club rides are via SPOND App.
There are also ad-hoc, uncoached rides and Zwift races organised by members communicated via Facebook. These are not coach nor activator led and thus any participation is at the members own risk and discretion.
There are also opportunities during the year for group rides on turbo-trainers and spin sessions on rainy days.
So why not come along for the ride!
Cycling is a vital phase of triathlon and usually where the greatest gains can be made. Whether you are powering through a Sprint triathlon, or need legs of steel for long distance endurance / Ironman events, building up cycling strength and stamina is crucial.
Be it social or for performance training our cycle sessions are taylored to help make gains for setting that new PB on race day, or simply to connect with club members for a fun and chatty way to improve fitness.
Ride routes are varied and selected by our BTF accredited coaches to best reflect where we are in the triathlon season geared towards upcoming key races.
The benefits of training
/ our rides help you:
• Acclimatise to riding in a group or in peloton
• Build ride endurance
• Practice both high cadence and higher power
• Learn to manage sustained climbs
• Manage fast but controlled descents
• Make most of fast flats
• Progress by being around experienced riders
• Manage your energy inputs (energy drinks and food)
Safety is paramount on our rides with wearing of helmets mandatory – and during the winter months high visibility and lights being essential.
Through the off-season and in to pre-season, the club offer a regular spinning class held at the Everyone Active Leisure Centre between 19:00 – 20:00 on a Monday.
Additionally, club Zwift sessions and races are organised to keep up that base level of fitness over the darker months.
All communications regarding club spin session are via SPOND App. Club members may also use the Facebook group page to communicate ad-hoc Zwift races.
If you are new to triathlon or a club environment, it can feel a little daunting coming to a cycling session – or you may just want to have try to meet us all before signing up.
So why not come along to one of our rides out and give it a whirl for free (please note, we offer one free taster ride per person only).
Why not give it a go and we look forward to meeting you.
Cycling sessions are available to club members only – please see below for Fees.
