Tonbridge Triathlon Race Report – 4th May 2026 (Star Wars day)

Beautiful race venue in grounds of Tonbridge school.

Well organised and lots of cheering from Marshalls.

Lovely pool swim with 3 per lane which helped.

Run uphill to T1 (see photos courtesy of Mike)

Tough technical bike course with 2 big hills and lots of potholes a bit hairy on one of the very steep descents

Fantastic racing and supporting team mates!!

Torie did amazingly in only her second ever tri to be runner up in the female standard race!

In the sprint – Lin, Lucy and Mary set off together, using the knowledge that we all started at similar time to push ourselves on. . . The pictures say it all!!

The run was 2 laps of the extended playing fields then finished on the track (one lap!) but poor Lucy had not done 2 laps in the field so had to go back and complete it and another lap of the track (but was pleased not to be DQed)

There was an awesome savory pastry seller – with delicious homemade scotch eggs and sausage rolls and these certainly helped our post race recovery.

Overall – a great race and I came 2nd overall in the sprint with Lin being 4th overall and second in her AG. Lucy despite the extra run was 4th in hers. So fab results all round from the CTC girls!

We will see where this puts us in the TESE series! And if this has made you fancy having a go – the entries are still open for East Grinstead Tri next weekend (close at 12 Tuesday) which is the next TESE race. In 6 days time . . .
