Frosty (Soggy) Report 1/3/26

This local race held by Tuff Fitty is having its 30th anniversary and we had 7 of us competing in it. It was dark and raining when we got up but we were excited ahead of the first multisport race for us this year! Oddly we all felt a bit nervous at the start, seasoned and newer athletes alike! We discussed if we were to put tops/gloves etc on, then we were off.
It was 2 waves with mass start!!! But Neil had suggested letting a keen person go first then just drafting! Sounded good to me. Mike, Olly, Ness and Jane were in the first wave (Jane out first !!) then me, Dana and Neil in 2nd wave. Neil was in with all the youngsters from Southampton Uni Tri Club but certainly held his own!
Out and quickly putting shoes +/- other attire then off onto the run – once around the lake then 2 laps of the seafront before a second lap of the lake and into the finish. The wind was punishing running west but gave you a lovely push on way back east. The marshals were fab – 2 dressed as traffic cones and even a snowman on the course!! 
The club kit was as always great to spot from a distance so we could cheer each other on and celebrate together when we finished. We were 3rd team overall with Neil B winning his AG, Jane was 2nd in hers and I was 3rd in mine! Also big shout out to Olly Pine – doing her first adult race (last one was when she was 14 as a junior/youth in the club!!)
Great fun – would definitely do again (in spite of the weather, as hey – when you get out the pool, you are already wet!!
) they are doing sane again in the summer on July 5th – the Heatwave and the Microwave- so maybe we can get a few more club members to do it and improve on 3rd Team!
