Serpentine swim 2025 – Race report

Serpentine swim 2025 – race report by Emily Heron.
Yesterday, Rebecca Heron and I completed the 2 mile swim at the swim serpentine.
I bought this event for Becky for her birthday last year so she finally got her present!
We were both very nervous in the lead up as this was only Becky’s second time in open water and I just get nervous whatever I’m doing!
We checked in and at 12 we were off.
Jackie Jones had told us to dive in so we did just that and wow it was cold that took us by surprise!
We made sure we were both ok and then off we swam. 2 laps around the serpentine lake.
I was slightly nervous about what the water was going to be like as I had been told it was smelly, dirty, and not long had blue algae but to my surprise it was none of them although we were advised to try and not swallow the water.
2 laps later and we were both done! We both had target times and we both smashed them with Becky going sub 75 and me sub 60! I later found out I finished 64th female out of 1690 females.
Thanks to Sara Heron and Martin Poggy Pogmore for support, bag holding and photographers.
First of the London Classics done for me. London Marathon in April 2026 and then Ride London!
