Brighton Half 2026
1 March 2026
Race report by Andy Smithers
4 of us crazy fools took on the Brighton half marathon today. 3 of us using it as a training run for London marathon in April, the other for
s and giggles.
Wet, cold and wind blowing in every direction. Not the best conditions but everyone was in the same boat. We all gathered under one of the seafront shelters getting changed, shivering and cold then ready to run. Start time 0930. Took us several minutes just to cross the start line due to 10000 runners taking part.
Once started, I settled into a comfortable and sustainable pace 4:20 give or take. No matter which direction you were running the wind seemed to be against us for the most part. It rained, it stopped and rained again but didn’t dampen our spirits or our determination. We saw each other at most of the turn points hurling encouragement at each other. My first 10k was 43:18. Happy with that but thought could it be sustained?
I was aiming for 1:35 so was made up with a 1:33:03.
Kerrin Cruttenden and Emily both came in well under the 2 hour mark at 1:50 and 1:56 respectively. Andy G in 2:02 #legend.
Feeling a little more confident now with London only 8 weeks away. Time to recover then build on the distance over the next 5 weeks before the tapering begins
Thanks to Karen and Molly (best support crew) for the encouragement and pictures.
