Arundel Triathlon Triathlon 2025 – Race report by Dana Robertson

Arundel Triathlon is one of my favourite events of the year – and not just because it’s in my home town, talk about easy race start…

Set in Arundel Lido there’s always a fantastic buzz pre race and the view of Arundel Castle is awesome.

Always brilliantly run The Raw Energy, Arundel Triathlon offers two main distances:

  • a Standard (750m swim, 35km bike, 8.4km run)
  • a Sprint (400m swim, 19km bike, 4.6km run)

I was down for the standard.

This was part of my Ironman race prep – and first race with new Canyon TT bike and new aero helmet!

The race was well attended by 25+ Chi Tri racers for both Standard and Sprint events.

Swim.

Always almost too toasty a swim in the Lido, swim went well, I had one length held up a bit where some dude ignored the as race briefed toe tap to get by, before he got pulled aside by eagle eyed swim marshal.

On to bike.

First learning, make sure to rub hair as much as possible to get rid of excess water as otherwise… aero helmet visor mists up quick and takes a bit of time to clear as you are on the climb section first of all.

However, once you turn and head downhill towards Slindon it totally cleared as I got up to speed – I love fast descents and the newly resurfaced downhill from Whiteways was smooth and fast.

New Canyon TT bike was just electric, felt comfortable and fast, wahoooooooo.

Whilst at little heavier on the climbs (it wasn’t big deal at all) and came into its own on descents and flats aero wise

Just awesome.

The run.

Had a moment with getting trainers on as my quick laces were new and elastic too strong for lightweight Hoka’s materials – made mental note to switch back to normal laces for upcoming Ironman in July.

Run was great felt good and under control, but just on the turn and return from South Stoke picked up what felt like a whopper of a stone in tread of trainer and it wouldn’t budge – and it didn’t want to stop and winkle it out, on reflection I should have as it bugged me the rest of the race.

Finished feeling strong – and then fished out a flipping meteoroid from my trainer.

But an ace training race and next year want to hit top three in category as a goal.

Overall time: 1:03:44

Swim and T1 – 15:48

Bike  – 1:08:54
