Brighton Marathon 2025 – Race report
6 April 2025
Brighton Marathon 2025 – Race report by Dana Robertson.
A great event as always and weather was perfect – lovely and bright, temperature cool but not cold.
This event formed part of my events schedule for my Ironman Leeds 2025 prep, having signed up in September 2024.
I’d last run Brighton Marathon in 2023, with a time of 04:04:43.
My goal was to:
a) Get Ironman distance run under belt early doors for confidence
b) See how training had had and effect to date, 3 months out from my Ironman race
c) Practice pacing
d) Practice with race day nutrition (Maurten gels).
The Run.
The race was great.
The start is always great lots of positive vibes, with have a go hero’s mixed with club athletes.
The course itself is ace, with initial big hill up Marine Drive with mega views, then great support and vibes through the main Brighton seafront and winding through Hove end of Brighton to the finish.
I felt strong throughout and on 24 miles decided to kick on and felt really great crossing the line.
My time was 03:39:57, so vs 04:04:43 two years ago – so I was super chuffed.
It was definitely a great event to help build and give confidence for the run in to a full Ironman.
Learnings were needed slightly more nutrition, but Maurten gels were super good energy wise, absorbed quickly and kind on the gut.
Have already signed up for 2026 Brighton marathon with the goal of getting 03:30:00…
